The African Academy of Sciences Engages STINT Delegation on Equitable Partnerships

The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) hosted a delegation from the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT) at the Academy’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya on 15 January 2025. The delegation was led by Andreas Göthenberg, Executive Director of STINT, who was accompanied by Mats Benner, board member of STINT and Erik Forsberg, Representative in APAC for STINT.

STINT promotes knowledge and competence development within internationalisation and invests in internationalisation projects proposed by researchers, educators and leaderships at Swedish universities.

AAS and STINT discussed developing equitable partnerships on advancing research and higher education in Africa and Sweden.

Equitable partnerships between research institutions in the Global South and Global North are considered increasingly fundamental to drive sustainable development. One of the key focus areas of the AAS is to nurture, expand and build partnership engagements to transform science, technology and innovation in Africa.
